Alan B. Miller Receives 2010 Horatio Alger Award

Alan B. Miller, Chairman and CEO of Universal Health Services, Inc., received the 2010 Horatio Alger Award on April 9, 2010 at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, DC. The award recognizes his community leadership and his initiative and commitment to excellence, demonstrated by “extraordinary achievements accomplished through honesty, hard work, self-reliance and perseverance over adversity.” Among the prominent people inducted into the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans, together with Mr. Miller, were Condoleezza Rice, Former Secretary of State, U.S. Department of State and Provost, Stanford University; and Tommy Ray Franks, Former Commander-in-Chief, U.S. Central Command and Chairman, Franks & Associates. Horatio Alger Member Associate Justice Clarence Thomas presented the 2010 Horatio Alger Members with their medallions in a special, private ceremony at the U.S. Supreme Court on April 8, 2010.
