Quality Awards and Other Achievements
UHS Acute Care facilities are dedicated to delivering quality care. This is reflected in the numerous awards and honors received for excellence in multiple specialties:
- In 2024, 20 of the 25 UHS Acute Care hospitals evaluated earned an “A” or “B” safety grade from The Leapfrog Group, recognizing our commitment to protecting patients from harm and to meeting the highest safety standards. They included: Aiken Regional Medical Centers (South Carolina), Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center (Texas), The George Washington University Hospital (District of Columbia.), Henderson Hospital (Nevada), Lakewood Ranch Medical Center (Florida), Northern Nevada Medical Center (Nevada), Northwest Texas Healthcare System (Texas), Sierra Medical Center, an Extension of Northern Nevada Medical Center (Nevada), South Texas Health System Edinburg (Texas), South Texas Health System McAllen (Texas), South Texas Health System Heart (Texas), Southwest Healthcare Corona Regional Medical Center (California), Southwest Healthcare Inland Valley Hospital (California), Southwest Healthcare Palmdale Regional Medical Center (California), Southwest Healthcare Rancho Springs Hospital (California), Southwest Healthcare Temecula Valley Hospital (California), Spring Valley Hospital Medical Center (Nevada), St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center (Oklahoma), Texoma Medical Center (Texas) and Valley Hospital Medical Center (Nevada).In Fall 2024, Henderson Hospital earned its 13th consecutive top “A” grade, while St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center earned its 11th “A” out of the last 13 rating periods.
- Lakewood Ranch Medical Center was among the Leapfrog Group’s 2024 Top Teaching Hospitals. The previous year, Cornerstone Regional Hospital¹ earned the Group’s Top General Hospital for outstanding quality and safety.
- South Texas Health System and The George Washington University Hospital earned U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 – 2025 Best Regional Hospital designation for McAllen Metro and Washington D.C. Metro areas, respectively. This is the third time each of these facilities earned this award in the past five years.
- In these same U.S. News & World Report 2024-2025 Best Hospital Rankings, 21 out of 24 UHS Acute Care facilities evaluated, earned at least one High Performing designation. The George Washington University Hospital earned the most (six adult specialties and eight adult procedures and conditions), followed by South Texas Health System (seven adult procedures/conditions).
- St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center ranked among Newsweek/Statista World’s Best Hospitals 2024 — United States for the fourth consecutive year. The list is based on recommendations from medical experts, results from patient surveys, hospital quality metrics and an online survey on implementation/use of Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs).
- Henderson Hospital, St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center and The George Washington University Hospital were among Newsweek/Statista’s 2024 America’s Best-In-State Hospitals for Nevada, Oklahoma, and the District of Columbia, respectively
- St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center ranked among Newsweek/Statista World’s Best Hospitals 2024 for the fourth consecutive year. The list is based on recommendations from medical experts, results from patient surveys, hospital quality metrics and an online survey on implementation/use of Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs).
- St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center was one of seven hospitals in Oklahoma to earn Healthgrades® Outstanding Patient Experience Award™ for four consecutive years (2021-2024). St. Mary’s also was listed among Women’s Choice Awards’ 100 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience in 2023, 2024 and 2025.
- Henderson Hospital, Lakewood Ranch Medical Center, Southwest Healthcare Rancho Spring Hospital/Inland Valley Hospital, Texoma Medical Center and Wellington Regional Medical Center earned Healthgrades’ 2025 Patient Safety Excellence Awards for earning top scores across fourteen patient safety indicators.
- ER at Fruitville, an extension of Lakewood Ranch Medical Center earned Press Ganey’s Human Experience (HX) Guardian of Excellence Award – Emergency Department Site for Patient Experience in 2022 and 2023.
- Temecula Valley Hospital earned the Women’s Choice Awards for America’s Best Hospitals for Patient Safety in 2024 and 2025.
- Aiken Regional Medical Centers, Henderson Hospital, Southwest Healthcare Palmdale Regional Medical Center and Southwest Healthcare Temecula Valley Hospital each were one of 472 hospitals across 42 states recognized by the Health Transformation Alliance, The Leapfrog Group and Turquoise Health for their patient safety rating and high level of adherence to federal price transparency rules.
