Patients are our top priority
We’re determined to be compassionate and responsive to the needs of those in our care. Our goal is to provide superior quality healthcare for patients in our acute care and behavioral health facilities. Since opening our first hospital in 1979, providing superior quality care has been the cornerstone of UHS’ Mission and Principles.
Acute Care Quality
Leadership, clinical expertise and an unwavering commitment to quality lead the way at UHS’ Acute Care Division. Our goal is to raise the bar in excellent service and care, transforming the patient experience and ensuring it’s at the center of the healthcare delivery model.
Behavioral Health Quality
Recognized among the nation’s best, UHS facilities aim to provide patients and their families with compassionate, quality care based on proven therapies that result in successful, long-term recovery.
Since we opened the first acute care hospital in 1979, UHS vision has been to put patients first. We offer the highest quality patient care at reasonable costs, and build relationships with the neighbors and communities we serve.

Earning accreditation from The Joint Commission is choosing to pursue a commitment to excellence across the spectrum of care.
UHS has a longstanding, independently validated and evidence-based record of providing quality healthcare services to patients and their families. Proudly, in our more than 40-year history, no UHS facility has failed to be accredited or re-accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC) or Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), the nation’s highest healthcare standards-setting organizations whose rigorous clinical assessment protocols are widely respected throughout the healthcare industry.
An accreditation or certification of a UHS hospital or program by TJC indicates that the facility not only complies with the highest national standards for safety and quality of care, but also is committed to continually improving patient care.
