Seven Subsidiaries of Universal Health Services Named to Newsweek’s Best Addiction Treatment Centers for 2025

King of Prussia, PA (August 14, 2025) – Universal Health Services (NYSE: UHS) announced today that seven of its subsidiaries have been recognized on Newsweek’s Best Addiction Treatment Centers 2025 list. Getting the right help to combat addiction is important, which is why Newsweek partnered with Statista to present America’s Best Addiction Treatment Centers for 2025. This year’s ranking awards 420 facilities, an increase over last year’s 400.

UHS Subsidiaries that appear on the list:

  1. In Arizona: Calvary Healing Center
  2. In Georgia: Black Bear Lodge and Talbott Recovery
  3. In Kentucky: The Ridge Behavioral Health System and The Brook Hospital – KMI
  4. In Michigan: Skywood Recovery
  5. In Minnesota: PRIDE Institute

The survey evaluated facilities in the 25 states with the highest number of addiction treatment centers, according to The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The remaining states were grouped into four regions, and the facilities from these states were considered accordingly. This list uses four data sources, including a national online survey from medical professionals and managers or administrators working in addiction treatment centers, accreditation and care services data provided by SAMHSA and Google reviews. Using this information, a quality score was calculated for each recommended facility.

Methodology

The 6th edition of the America‘s Best Addiction Treatment Centers ranking awards the leading 420 addiction treatment centers in the U.S. Facilities in the 25 states with the highest number of addiction treatment centers, according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), were included in the survey. The remaining states were grouped into four regions. Addiction treatment centers from these states were considered accordingly. The states are Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Washington.

The scope of facilities and states included in the survey is:

  • Inpatient/residential and long-term addiction treatment centers were included in the ranking. Long-term programs require a minimum residency of 30 days. In a few selected cases, long-term was defined as a minimum residency of 28 days. Facilities that only offer outpatient or short-term addiction treatment services were excluded.
  • The top 10-18% facilities per state and region were awarded. This amount is based on the number of facilities within the specific state or region that meet the above-mentioned scope of requirements and therefore varies in the individual states and regions.

The list is based on four data sources:

  • National Online Survey – Reputation Score: composed of a recommendation score and a quality score which account for 55 percent of the total score.
  • Accreditation data: accounts for 35 percent of the total score.
  • Care Services data: accounts for 5 percent of the total score.
  • Google Reviews: accounts for 5 percent of the total score.
