Quality Awards and Accreditations
UHS Acute Care facilities are dedicated to delivering high quality, compassionate care. This is reflected in the numerous awards and honors received for excellence in multiple specialties:
- In 2022, thirteen UHS Acute Care hospitals earned an “A” or "B" safety grade from The Leapfrog Group, recognizing our commitment to protecting patients from harm and to meeting the highest safety standards. They included: Corona Regional Medical Center (Calif.), Desert Springs Hospital (Nev.), Doctors Hospital of Laredo (Texas), The George Washington University Hospital (D.C.), Henderson Hospital (Nev.), Lakewood Ranch Medical Center (Fla.), Northern Nevada Medical Center (Nev.), Palmdale Regional Medical Center (Calif.), Spring Valley Hospital Medical Center (Nev.), St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center (Okla.), Summerlin Hospital Medical Center (Nev.), Temecula Valley Hospital (Calif.), and Valley Hospital Medical Center (Nev.).Fall 2022 was the 9th consecutive rating period that both Henderson Hospital and St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center earned the top “A” grade.
- Lakewood Ranch Medical Center was named Top General Hospital by The Leapfrog Group for outstanding quality and safety in 2021, while Northern Nevada Medical Center and Temecula Valley Hospital was awarded this designation in 2020.
- Henderson Hospital was named a Top Teaching Hospital by The Leapfrog Group in 2020 and 2021.
South Texas Health System has been named a Best Regional Hospital by U.S. News & World Report for 2022-2023.- In these same U.S. News & World Report 2022-2023 Best Hospital Rankings, 20 of UHS’ Acute Care facilities earned at least one High Performing designation. George Washington University Hospital earned the most (2 adult specialties and 6 adult procedures and conditions), followed by South Texas Health System (7 adult procedures/conditions).
- Also during the year, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center (Okla.) was one of 429 hospitals to earn the Five-Star Overall Rating. The CMS Five-Star designation is based on performance across various measures of quality including safety of care, readmission rate, mortality, timely and effective care and patient experience.
St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center (Okla.) ranked among Newsweek/Statista Inc.'s World’s Best Hospitals 2023 — United States for the third consecutive year. The list is based on recommendations from medical experts, results from patient surveys, medical KPIs on hospitals (e.g., data on quality of treatment, hygiene measures) and an online survey on implementation/use of Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs).
