Canyon Creek Behavioral Health to Open in Temple, Texas in the Fall of 2020

Specialty hospital to begin offering services in Fall 2020

Canyon Creek Behavioral HealthTemple, Texas (September 23, 2020) — Canyon Creek Behavioral Health, a brand new facility providing high-quality and advanced behavioral health services will open this Fall to address the growing unmet need in the region and across the state. The facility will initially begin offering services for adults and will continue to open units and add further services in a phased approach through early 2021.

With 102 beds, the new Canyon Creek Behavioral Health will provide behavioral health services for adolescents (ages 12 to 17), adults (18 +) and older adults (ages 55+). Using an evidence-based approach, a multidisciplinary team that includes Baylor Scott & White Health clinicians will deliver compassionate care and intensive therapy to help support individuals on their recovery journey.

When fully operational in 2021, the new facility is expected add 360+ jobs to the area. Other features the new facility will include:

  • The collaboration of multidisciplinary teams including psychiatrists, internal medicine physicians, specialists, certified clinical pharmacists, social workers, psychologists, therapists and other clinical support staff;
  • An integrated assessment and referral center;
  • Substance use disorder treatment for those who are also receiving care for a mental health diagnosis.
  • Telehealth services;
  • A continued commitment to highly specialized academic training programs, including the addition of graduate medical education programs in psychiatry, psychopharmacology and other clinical training opportunities; and
  • Enhanced and expanded intensive day programs and outpatient care.
