Dual Diagnosis - Covid-19 | UHS, King of Prussia, PA

The past year has brought many challenges to the substance use and co-occurring treatment industry. Treatment centers offering residential or a partial hospital program with housing dealt with issues ranging from quarantine protocols to staff shortages to redefining clinical programs. This session will feature Executive Leadership representing 3 treatment centers with a combined 65 years of experience in the field. Each CEO will discuss issues they faced in the prior year and the unique strategies created to overcome the difficulties associated with COVID-19.  There will be discussions addressing general Substance Abuse Disorder and Dual-Diagnosis treatment as well as specific focus on treatment in military populations and for the LGBTQI population. There will be time for participants to comment or question speakers at the end of the session.

As behavioral health providers, we often face challenges stemming from the impact of the world around us.  Our patients often have difficulty managing stress and struggle with change. COVID-19 created a situation of isolation, anxiety and stress that kindled the fire of addiction in many of our patients. Whether you have a private practice, run a network of facilities, or something in between, this session offers the shared experience of industry leaders. They will reveal strategies that worked to support patients and staff and improve services during the most difficult of times.

Three course objectives:

Identify major issues impacting patients, staff and ability to provide services in the subspecialty of their organization.
Review strategies implemented to overcome patient and service challenges.
Discuss strategies used to mitigate COVID-19 stress in staff.

Chad Koller, MHA, MS

Chad Koller, MHA, MS, joined Skywood Recovery as CEO in February of 2019. He brings with him a wide range of experience in healthcare leadership, including his positions as national director of operations and business development for Core Medical Group and as executive director of Life of Purpose treatment center in South Florida. As he leads the team at Skywood, his goal is to develop a multidisciplinary team approach that can offer the best possible treatment and outcomes for patients. In this mission, Koller finds motivation in his personal mottos: “Be in service to others” and “Leave your ego at the door.”

Terri Hayden

Before joining Pride Institute, Terri Hayden served as the Executive Director of the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation in St. Paul, Minnesota for over ten years. She also was Director of Chemical Health Services at Chrysalis, a Minneapolis nonprofit organization providing a wide array of services and care to women and their families. Hayden served as an adjunct professor at Minneapolis Community and Technical College. She has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Augsburg College and a master’s degree in Psychology from St. Mary’s University.

Hayden currently serves on the board of directors for National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers — NAATP.

William A. Aniskovich, M.A., J.D.

William A. Aniskovich, M.A., J.D. joined the Institute in 1995 and has been the CEO of Stonington Behavioral Health, Inc. since June 2004. Bill received his BA from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. and earned his masters and law degree at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. He was a state Senator in the Connecticut General Assembly from 1990 to 2004, finishing his career as the Senate Minority Leader Pro Tempore. Bill has led the significant growth in Stonington’s inpatient and partial hospital programs for adults, and the establishment of adolescent services in 1999. Most recently, he directed the successful effort to create a TRICARE®-certified, co-occurring ready, residential trauma program for active duty service men and women at the North Stonington campus.
