Attracting people who care

For a career in nursing that’s challenging, rewarding and makes you feel part of a talented team, read what some of our nurses have to say about Northwest.

Did you know?

UHS has 81,000+ employees who treat more than 2.6 million patients each year at our acute care and behavioral health facilities. We are always looking for dedicated employees to join our team.

Northwest Texas Healthcare System, a 495-bed academic teaching facility based in Amarillo, Texas, is well known for its heart, emergency, stroke and children's care as well as many other clinical services. The Texas Department of State Health Services has designated Northwest Texas Healthcare as the Lead Trauma Facility for the top 26 counties within the Texas Panhandle.

A lot of credit goes to our nursing staff. Each of them brings exceptional knowledge and skills to the mission of improving patient care. They’re able to handle challenges and have the compassion to respond to the needs of patients. Our nurses go above and beyond for patients and their families every single day.

That's why we support them with a friendly environment that offers career growth opportunities in a wide range of nursing specialties.

Learning opportunities are just part of the picture. Ask most nurses, and they’ll tell you that a good work environment is also important in their career. That’s why Northwest is proud of its work culture that nurtures growth and fosters camaraderie.

“From the first day that I applied here, everyone was helpful,” says Brittany Birtciel, a graduate nurse. “Everyone has that same team morale and they all pitch in to help when you need it.”

“It’s a big team atmosphere,” says Mason Birtch, Flight Nurse/Paramedic.

Northwest challenges nurses to seek their full potential. Along with nurse residency and clinical advancement programs, nurses have opportunities to move into new positions and responsibilities.

There’s a lot of career advancement opportunities for all nurses.
