Lehigh Valley Health Network, UHS Plan 144-bed Behavioral Hospital

May 15, 2024 — Allentown, Pa.-based Lehigh Valley Health Network and King of Prussia, Pa.-based Universal Health Services will open a 144-bed behavioral hospital in Hanover Township, Pa. The facility, Hanover Hill Behavioral Health, is near Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg campus, according to a November 15 news release. The site is expected to open in fall 2025. The new joint venture will staff more than 300 full-time employees, according to the news release.

New 144-bed Hospital to Help Meet Growing Demand for Mental Health Care in Lehigh Valley

May 15, 2024 — A groundbreaking for the Lehigh Valley’s newest behavioral health hospital was held Wednesday. Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) along with Universal Health Services (UHS) are building the facility on Macada Road in Hanover Township, Northampton County, next to LVHN’s Muhlenberg hospital. “This facility will offer 144 beds that include geriatric care, adult care and adolescent inpatient care. There is also an adult partial hospital as well as an adolescent partial hospital, as well as some intensive outpatient treatment,” said Dr. Edward Norris, chair of psychiatry at LVHN.

A groundbreaking ceremony for Hanover Hill Behavioral Health was held near Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg in Hanover Township, Northampton County. Once completed, the new hospital on Macada Road will be 95,000 square feet and three stories tall with 144 beds. LVHN and Universal Health Services plan to open the hospital in fall 2025.
