Greenville News: COVID-19 Strains SC's Statewide Mental Health Crisis Line

August 2020 — A May study by Universal Health Services, Inc. found that 62% of 1,097 U.S. adults surveyed reported increased stress, anxiety or depression. "Concerns about the economy, unknown duration of COVID-19 effects, no ‘normalcy’ in near future, isolation from friends/family and risk of virus exposure" were the leading causes of anxiety or depression for those individuals, according to that study.

WLOX: Universal Health Services Conducts a Survey Calculating COVID-19 Related Mental Issues

August 2020, GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) — A new report about the impact of COVID-19 on mental health found that 68 percent of Americans surveyed call COVID-19 an extreme crisis. The survey was done by Universal Health Services, the parent company of Gulfport Behavioral Health. Gulfport Behavioral Health System Director Stephen East says it’s their job to provide comfort and resources for the community, especially during a pandemic.
